FINANCIAL BENEFITS & HOUSING

Alexa Johanson
Program Coordinator

When, where, and how to access vital governmental services can be a frightening, overwhelming experience for many people with disabilities. CID offers both individual and group counseling to educate and inform people with disabilities about the financial benefits to which they are entitled. We teach consumers about the rules and regulations related to acquiring and maintaining those benefits. CID also helps consumers appeal when they are denied services by a variety of state and federal agencies. One important aspect of CID's Benefits Counseling is the development of Plan for Achieving Self Support (PASS). The purpose of the PASS is to enable individuals to retain all or part of their benefits while earning other income. This income can be used for training, equipment, and other resources needed to become self-sufficient within a designated time period.
